Washing hands

Threadworm is easily spread amongst children via the invisible threadworm eggs picked up on the hands from various surfaces. The eggs are then inadvertently swallowed. Hand washing before meals and after playing or going to the toilet is important to help prevent the spread of threadworm when a school has an outbreak. Overall, better hygiene methods can help children avoid unpleasant illnesses and the subsequent absenteeism from school.

Many school nurses therefore advocate the use of Clean Crusaders as part of a lesson plan incorporating hygiene and hand washing for 4-7 year olds (Key Stage 1).
